Do I Have a Gambling Problem?

Sometimes people wonder if they might be having a problem with their gambling. Here is a simple quiz you can take right now in the privacy of your home to see if your gambling entertainment is getting out of control.

Which statements apply to you?

  • I seem to be placing larger bets or gambling more frequently than before.

  • Sometimes I go back to the gaming establishment soon after I lose to try and get my money back.

  • I find myself using my winnings to continue gambling, instead of going home with the money.

  • I tend to make light of my gambling losses when talking to family or friends.

  • I have had to rely on others to get out of some tight financial situations.

  • I might be gambling to take my mind off problems in my life.

  • I get impatient or irritable with my family or suffer from unusual mood swings.

  • I find myself behaving differently from my normal value system.

  • I find myself taking time off work or away from my family or friends to gamble.

  • I have written a bad check or pawned personal valuables to cover my gambling losses.

If any of these statements apply,  it's very possible that you are moving in a
dangerous direction. Our goal at the SASC Gambling Treatment Program is to help people
before they go over the line into true problem gambling.
